First School is a support ministry of First Baptist Church. The purpose of the school is to provide children with a real opportunity to learn the Christian way of life on their own level. They will do this as they work with loving, understanding teachers who express Christian ideas and attitudes in thought, word, and deed and as they use interesting materials in work and play situations with other children.

It is also the objective to provide a warm, loving environment in which each child is recognized for his or her uniqueness and is encouraged to develop to his or her potential. Our teachers provide a nurturing environment to promote academic, spiritual, emotional and social growth. Through positive reinforcement, we strive to instill the value and joy of learning within each child.

At First School, we provide a safe environment for our students, with limited access to the building. We take pride in knowing that parents can rest well knowing that their children are in a safe environment where they can learn and grow. All staff are certified in ADE, CPR and First Aid.

Meet Our Staff

Director

Amanda Jacobs

I have been with First School since 2016, when my youngest was in the 3-year-old class. I started off as a substitute teacher, then became a teacher of the 2-year-old class in 2017 and finally in 2021 I became the Director of First School. I hold a degree in Business Office Technology and Accounting.

I love that First School is a small school so that the family of the students become family and friends to me. I love that I get to watch the students grow from the 2-year-old program to kindergarten and beyond. I am grateful that not only do I get to see the students grow academically but also with God.

I was born and raised in Jesup and have been married for over 20 years and have three boys. In my free time I like to travel and work on my little farm.

My name is Chloe Johnson and I have the honor of teaching Kindergarten. I am a military spouse and have two little girls. I love music and being outdoors. I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with two endorsements in Reading for K-12 and English Speakers of Other Languages.

Kindergarten is an essential year and where the foundation of education begins. I am very excited to work with your child this year and watch them grow. Most importantly, I am thrilled to share my faith in Jesus with them and watch them blossom in his love and guidance.
