From the accomplished vocalist to those who just like to make a joyful sound, our Sanctuary Choir is made up of adults who give of their time and talents to glorify God. This choir assists in leading worship most Sunday mornings, as well as provides seasonal special concerts. Sanctuary Choir rehearses each Wednesday evening at 6:15 in the Choir Room.
Our Children’s Choir meets each Monday afternoon that school is in session. We provide pick-up at all the local elementary schools. After snacks and rec time at the church, we have a 40-50 minute rehearsal and are ready to go by 5:00 PM. The Children’s Choir sings occasionally in church and presents a Spring Musical each year.
J1:7 derives its name from Jeremiah 1:7: Do not say, “I am only a youth.” Where I send you, go; and whatever I command you, speak. This ensemble is open to all youth 6th grade an up and meets on Friday afternoon. Pick up at the two local middle schools and the high school is provided. In addition to occasionally leading in our worship service, this ensemble also has a focus of showing God’s love through service to our community and our church.
Rejoice! is our praise and worship ensemble. Through a mixture of contemporary and traditional music this ensemble helps lead in our Sunday morning worship service as least twice a month. Rejoice! also represents our church at various community events such as the yearly Dogwood Festival, It is open by audition at the beginning of the Fall and Spring Semesters and rehearses on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 PM.
Ringing the 4 octaves of bells given in memory of Rodney Jones, Carillion Praise delights its audience through unique arrangements of hymns and songs written especially for handbells. Having some knowledge of and an ability to read music is helpful as part of this ensemble. This ensemble will resume rehearsals in the Fall of 2012.
The JOY Singers is an ensemble made up of Just Older Youth! They rehearse each Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 PM in the Sanctuary. In addition to occasionally leading in our worship services, the JOY Singers also represent our church by ministering through song to the residents of Mossy Oaks Assisted Living Center, Golden Living Center, and Altamaha Healthcare Center. Membership in the JOY Singers is always open.
Much effort is needed behind the scenes to make our worship service successful each week and to assure our services are shared with our shut-ins and our community. If you have a gift for audio-visual production, including video filming and editing, sound board operation, and theatrical lighting, we have a place of service for you. This team also assists in special events of the church and in the life events of our members.
