Dr. Mike VonMossSenior Pastor
Mike has been the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church since July of 2007. He originally comes from Oklahoma and to this day is a loyal Sooner fan. He loves camping, hiking, biking, reading good books, and his wife, Barb, who teaches art at Wayne County High School. Mike served churches in Missouri and Florida before finally arriving in the Promised Land of Jesup. Mike and Barb have two grown sons, and one granddaughter. He holds Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City Missouri.
FUN FACTS: Mike is left handed and loves visiting National Parks.
Creston GrooverMinister of Music
A native of Hinesville, GA, Creston joined the staff of First Baptist in June 2007 as Minister of Music. He is a graduate of the Townsend School of Music at Mercer University, Macon where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Voice and his Master of Music in Conducting and Church Music. In addition to the churches he served in Macon area, he also directed the Children's Preparatory Choir of Mercer University. He is currently a candidate for his Doctorate of Worship Studies at the Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, Florida. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and cooking – especially backyard barbecues with family and friends. He is married to Amy Shiley Groover, a cardiac nurse practitioner and they have two young daughters, Caredith and Marigrace.
Earl BarronMinister of Education
Earl is a native of Troy, Alabama. His wife is Wanda also formerly of Troy. They have two adult children, Kayla, married to David Bruce and Josh, married to Lindsey Reese Barron. He is also the proud "G-Pa" of Isabella (Izzy) Reese Barron. He has a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served in churches in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. His past ministry positions include education, youth ministry, preschool and children's ministry. Hobbies are hunting, fishing, and teaching. He also enjoys spending time with his family. His passion is for each and every person to have an intentional relationship with Christ Jesus and to grow in their walk with Him through meaningful discipleship.
Zach McCainYouth Minister
Zach joined the staff of First Baptist in September of 2015. A native of Murfreesboro, TN, Zach loves to spend time outdoors hiking and playing sports, and indoors reading a good book or playing board games with friends. He is married to his beautiful wife, Adriane, and they have two daughters, Eleanor and Clara. Zach holds a B.A. in English from UT Martin and a Master of Divinity degree from Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, AL. Before coming to Jesup Zach served as a collegiate ministry leader in both Tennessee and Alabama, and as a youth minister and associate pastor in Cleveland, Mississippi.
